Oak Lawn Branch Library Celebrates 80th Anniversary
Gala Event Raises Funds for the Library
The Oak Lawn Branch Library celebrated its 80th anniversary with a gala event on April 25. Stan Aten, President of Oak Lawn Library Friends, chaired the fundraiser which was held at the library. The elegant evening included a cocktail reception, silent auction, buffet dinner and a string quartet from the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. The Oak Lawn library has been given an outpouring of support by the corporations and citizens in the area community through the years. Nearly 100 were in attendance including many of the past managers of the branch and members of the Dallas Municipal Library Board.

The Friends of the Lakewood Libray dedicated the children's area in honor of Linda Hankinson on October 12, 2008 from 1 -3 p.m. Linda was a thoughtful neighbor and caring friend.
